Defibrillator

  1. Call Emergency Services: In the event of a cardiac arrest, call 999 immediately and begin CPR. 
  2. Provide Defibrillator Number: If the defibrillator cabinet is locked, inform the 999 operator of the cabinet’s number, if visible. 
  3. Obtain Access Code: The call handler will provide you with the code to unlock the defibrillator cabinet. 
  4. Access and Use: Once you have the code, use it to open the cabinet and access the defibrillator. 
  5. Follow Instructions: The defibrillator will provide voice instructions on how to use it. 

Important Notes:

  • Registration: Many defibrillators are registered with services like The Circuit or Defib Finder, which helps emergency services locate and provide access codes. 
  • Pre-Check: It’s recommended to check how to access your local defibrillator beforehand, so you know the process in case of an emergency. 
  • Second Call: If you forget the code, a second call to 999 may be necessary.
