The Barr Community Fund is funded from two sources:
– The SSE community benefit provides £81890 of annual funding from the Hadyard Hill wind farm
– Nadara provides £48621 annually from its Assel Valley wind farm.
12% of this funding is taken by Foundation Scotland to administer the fund each year.

The Barr Community Fund supports projects located within or directly benefiting the community area of Barr. Applications must benefit the community, which is geographically defined by the community council boundaries.
Grant Sizes
Standard grants are between £500 and £10,000
Large grants are over £10,000 and up to £25,000
Awards can support a wide range of costs and activities including, but not limited to, equipment costs, running costs for local groups, consultations, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities.
The next round of funding will be June 2026.
We are thankful to Nadara for providing the fund for our energy grant. Over 140 households in the area are eligible for an annual payment to help cover the costs of their energy bills.
Currently the fund setup is under review. SSE are keen that all funding is made with community involvement so based on the agreed contacts made via the Energy Grant registration interested members of the community will be provided with the opportunity to comment on fund application.
