Barr Community Council is deeply concerned about the situation in the village. Recent events have exposed and worsened divisions between groups and individuals and this has begun to affect the wellbeing and cohesion of the community as a whole.
While we recognise that all groups have at heart what they believe to be the best interests of the community, the discord has had real effects on the health and wellbeing of residents.
The community council believes it is vital that we understand what has led to the current situation and that we focus our efforts on living, working and socialising happily together again.
As part of this effort the Community council has endorsed a report which makes three recommendations.
The first recommendation is for a pause for at least six months as a “cooling off period.”
Second, that an outside expert or organisation is brought in to mediate and to bring the current discord to a close.
Finally the same consultant would investigate a range of options for the use of the available funds by all community organisations including their use for the hall and other projects.
