Proposal to plant trees on the riverbank at The Pot

Ayrshire Rivers Trust requested feedback regarding a possible proposal to plant up to 30 trees on the riverbank at The Pot and River Gregg as part of a larger educational project.

Barr Community Council discussed the proposal at the BCC meeting on Thursday 14th July and agreed that the Rivers Trust would be advised that this proposed site was not viable.

As agreed at the Community Council meeting, Matt Cross met with Gordon from Ayrshire Rivers Trust and looked at a number of sites around the village where the children could plant trees.  There are two sites under active consideration.  Neither site impinges on residents’ recreational opportunities. Either or both may go forward, after discussion with landowners and the community council, extensive consultation and assessment of their suitability.

There is no plan to plant trees at the Pot and there will be no tree planting that is not beneficial to the village.
